Candidates’ Basic Requirements.
To qualify for grading, candidates must have attended class at an officially recognised ITSDF club for a period of not less than one hundred and twenty one-hour sessions prior to the grading.
A. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must know:
- The history and philosophy of Tang Soo Do.
The requirements for this grade also include a satisfactory performance in a written examination that covers all aspects of Tang Soo Do performance studied to date.
B. DEMONSTRATION OF ABILITY
BASIC TECHNIQUES (Kee Cho)
Hand and foot techniques
The candidate must be able to perform all the hand and foot combinations from earlier grading examinations.
Additional foot techniques
Jumping circular outside/inside chop kick, Jumping circular inside/outside chop kick
Bah Sa Hee, Chil Sung Ee Ro
ONE-STEP SPARRING AND FREE FIGHTING
C. BREAKING TECHNIQUE (Kyok Pa)
Candidate must be able to demonstrate a skillful and correct back fist strike against a house brick. Women must demonstrate a jump kick against a three-quarter inch thick breakable board. Students below 16 years of age on the day must demonstrate a kick against a three-quarter inch thick breakable board. In addition to the above requirements, the examiner may ask candidates to perform techniques from previous grading examinations.
