Grading 3rd Gup to 2nd Gup

Promotional Requirements for 3rd to2nd Gup (Blue Belt):

Candidates’ Basic Requirements.

To qualify for grading, candidates must have attended class at an officially recognised ITSDF club for a period of not less than forty one-hour sessions prior to the grading.

A. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

The candidate must know:

  1. A detailed understanding of the techniques so far studied.
  2. The purpose of muscle concentration/relaxation.
  3. How hip power is employed.
  4. The importance of both breathing control and smooth execution of technique.

B. DEMONSTRATION OF ABILITY


BASIC TECHNIQUES (Gi Cho)

Hand techniques
Two hand high X-block, Reverse side punch

Foot techniques
Spinning back kick, Jump side kick

FORMS (Hyung)

Pyung Ahn Sa Dan, Pyung Ahn Oh Dan

ONE-STEP SPARRING AND FREE FIGHTING

 

C. BREAKING TECHNIQUE (Kyok Pa)

Candidate must be able to demonstrate a skillful and correct spinning back kick, or jump side kick against a three-quarter inch thick breakable board. Women and students below 16 years of age on the day may demonstrate against a half-size board. In addition to the above requirements, the examiner may ask candidates to perform techniques from previous grading examinations.
